Sender Policy Framework, or SPF, is a verification system, which is employed to prevent the so-called email spoofing where an email message can be sent from one e-mail, but to appear as being sent from another one, often with the idea to fraud the recipient for some reason. When SPF protection is activated for a domain name, a unique record is created for it in the Domain Name System and all of the DNS servers around the world have it. The record includes all of the e-mail servers that are allowed to send valid messages from an email address under the domain. When an e-mail is sent, the first DNS server it encounters verifies the SPF record and in case its sending server is permitted, the message is forwarded to the targeted receiver. If, however, the sending server is not included in the SPF record for the given domain, the e-mail message won't be sent and it'll be removed. If you employ this service, it will prevent third parties from sending spam emails which look as if they have been sent by you.

SPF Protection in Web Hosting

SPF protection can be activated for any domain name hosted in a web hosting account on our cloud platform with no more than a few mouse-clicks. The function is available in the Emails section of our hi-tech Hepsia Control Panel and all it takes to enable it is to choose one of your domains from the drop-down menu and to enter the hostnames together with the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the mail servers that will be approved to send messages from your email addresses. As an additional option you can even restrict the email messages to be sent from your domain only if it includes our MX records, i.e. if our servers handle the email addresses for it, not a third-party supplier. This solution will provide you with the highest level of security, but it is not applicable when only your website is on our servers while your e-mail addresses for the domain name are handled in another place. Either way, our SPF protection service will keep your emails safe from being used for spam and scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The SPF protection function is available with all the Linux semi-dedicated hosting, so in case you host your domain names in an account on our cloud website hosting platform, you will be able to activate this service with ease for all your domains. The Hepsia Control Panel, which is provided with the semi-dedicated accounts, offers a rather easy to work with interface, so you won't have to be tech-savvy in order to secure your emails. You will only have to type the hostname and the IP address of each mail server that you would like to be allowed to send e-mails from your addresses and immediately after that the updated record will be active for the domain that you have picked. As an extra option, we will also give you the ability to limit the outgoing emails and protect your mailboxes further by permitting messages to be sent only if the domain involved contains our MX records i.e. the e-mail messages for the domain name need to be handled on our end and not by a different company. By doing this you will have even better control and there will not be a chance for somebody to fake your e-mail addresses for harmful activities.
