Every single desktop or notebook or web server is run by an Operating System - the low-level program that interacts with the hardware equipment, including peripherals such as a mouse or a printer, together with any applications that are present on your system. Any program input through a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI) is processed by sending an Application Program Interface (API) request to the Operating System. On a server, every single application runs within the parameters established by the OS as well - priority, physical memory, processing time, and so on. This goes for both standard website scripts and server-side software like a media server. When a virtual server is created on a physical one, there can be two independent Operating Systems, named guest OS and host OS, so you can set up a different software environment on the same machine.

Multiple OS in VPS Hosting

If you choose to buy one of our virtual private server plans, you will be able to pick one of the three Linux releases which we provide for the OS of the servers - CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian. They are among the most preferred and most reliable server OSs available on the market and we offer them so that you have a choice for the software environment of your machine if you need to install some application with particular requirements in terms of the packages that have to be present on the server. We also offer three web hosting Control Panels and which one of them you could use will depend on the OS that you've selected. We leave the option to change the server Operating System open, so if you want to use an app that requires an OS different from the one you already have, we can always re-install the VPS. In addition, we can keep the OS up-to-date on a weekly basis by installing any security updates that may be released.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Web Hosting

We offer three Operating Systems with our dedicated server plans - CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian. They are all different Linux distributions and we offer them not only because they are absolutely free so they won't increase the price of your new hosting server, but also because they are extremely secure and stable. Each of them is supported by a huge community of developers, so you'll be able to choose from a myriad of software packages that you may install on your server in case the application that you intend to employ has certain requirements. The Operating System will also determine what internet hosting Control Panel you can use since the Control Panels that we offer run on specific OSs only and since we would like to provide you with as much freedom as possible, we offer multiple OSs and multiple Control Panels. If you get a server with a given Operating System, we can change it upon request in case it turns out that you'll need another one. We could also keep your OS updated on a weekly basis as part of the optional Managed Services upgrade.
