One of the most reliable approaches to limit the access to your website is to block the IP addresses of those which shouldn't be able to open it. There are various reasons to do this. As an example, you may want a certain person not to be able to see your website, or you may restrict the access for an entire nation. You could also block IP addresses if you discover that there are way too many web browser requests from them, if a lot of spam comments are left in your Internet sites or if a script login page has been loaded many times. In all of these scenarios, the traffic is most probably fake and has been produced by an automatic bot, so you can safely block any questionable IP address, so as to be on the safe side. This way, you will also prevent the possibility of your hosting server getting overloaded by way too many fake requests.

IP Blocking in Web Hosting

If you have a web hosting account with us and you want to block one or a number of IP addresses, you could use the IP Blocking tool, that's integrated into our in-house built Hepsia Control Panel. Using a pretty simple interface, you are able to prevent any IP from accessing your content even if you have never had a web hosting account before. All it requires to complete that is to log in to your CP, to check out the IP Blocking section, to choose a specific domain or subdomain from a drop-down menu and then to type in the IP address. You'll not have to do anything complex if you'd like to block a whole network - you will simply have to omit the last octet, so entering 1.1.1. with a blank space after the last dot shall block the full range from 1.1.1.1 to 1.1.1.255. All blocked IPs shall be listed within the same exact section, so you'll be able to remove any one of them from the blacklist with simply a mouse click.

IP Blocking in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, provided with our Linux semi-dedicated hosting, will allow you to solve the challenge with unwanted traffic very easily and quickly. It comes with an IP blocking tool where you may add IP addresses with several mouse clicks. All domains and subdomains which you have in the account will be listed in a drop-down menu, so you just have to select the one you need and then input the IP address that has to be blocked. If you wish to block an entire range, a C-class network for example, you just have to type the first 3 octets of the IP and leave the last one blank. That shall block all 254 addresses, so you will not have to type them manually. Because all the IPs that you include in this section will be listed, you can easily unblock any of them by clicking the Delete button associated with the given IP.
